The 4-H Pledge

4-H is

  • available to youth ages 9 to 19
  • available to everyone, regardless of race, color, ethnic origin, creed, religion, political belief, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression or genetic information

4-H is

  • learning by doing called “experiential education”
  • the largest youth organization in the world
  • designed to help youth become productive, self-directing and contributing members of society

4-H is

  • led by extension staff, teen and adult volunteers
  • always interested to find a program for those willing to dedicate their time, talents and resources

4-H is

  • built on an academic foundation
  • extending the University of Kentucky throughout the state
  • using research-based education resources from the land grant university system in Kentucky

4-H is

  • focused on several core areas of concentration: Animal Science, Communications, Family and Consumer Sciences, Health, Leadership, and Natural Resources and Science
